The Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) Consultative Committee will meet on Monday, August 27, 2018 to collect public input in advance of NAFO’s 40th Annual Meeting, which will be held September 17-21, 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia.

  • WHAT IS NAFO: NAFO is a regional fisheries management organization that coordinates scientific study and cooperative management of Northwest Atlantic fisheries resources, excluding salmon, tunas and marlins, whales, and sedentary species such as shellfish.
  • WHO BELONGS TO NAFO: The organization currently has 12 contracting parties, including Canada, Cuba, Denmark/Faroe Islands/Greenland, the European Union, Iceland, France in respect to the islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon, Iceland, Japan, Norway, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, and the United States.
  • WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE CONSULTATIVE MEETING: This meeting will help ensure that the interests of U.S. stakeholders involved in Northwest Atlantic Ocean fisheries are adequately represented at the September annual meeting.
  • WHERE AND WHEN IS THE MEETING: The meeting will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Gloucester, MA at the NOAA Fisheries Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office (GARFO) at 55 Great Republic Drive.
  • WHO CAN ATTEND: All NAFO Consultative Committee members and all other interested U.S. stakeholders are invited to attend the August 27, 2018 meeting.
