The 42nd Annual Maine Fishermen’s Forum will be held at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine. The forum is run by a 17-member board of directors and is described as “the largest event of its kind in New England, dedicated to offering fishermen, clammers, lobstermen, aquaculturists, and related seafood industry participants an opportunity to meet on neutral ground with fisheries managers, state representatives, congressmen, and senators."
The forum features a trade show and offers over 30 seminars on a wide range of fishing- and seafood-related subjects. This year, the New England Fishery Management Council is organizing three of those seminars:
- Sea Scallops — Management in the Northern Gulf of Maine Area
- Atlantic Herring Amendment 8 — Localized depletion and a new acceptable biological catch control rule
- Groundfish Monitoring — Scoping hearing for a new amendment to investigate potential alternatives to at-sea monitoring and how landings information is provided
Visit the Maine Fishermen's Forum website for more information about the seminar schedule and forum events.
