This three-day workshop includes: a visit to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) gear loft to explore trawl nets and scallop dredges used in survey work; a trip aboard the Fisheries Survey Vessel Henry B. Bigelow with a tour of the onboard labs and sample handling stations; a visit to the Northeast Fisheries Science Center’s Age and Growth Lab; a discussion with port agents on data reporting; and time spent at the Northeast Fisheries Observer Program facility. The workshop concludes with an in-depth discussion about how these various activities and work all contribute to stock assessments.
