The Transboundary Resources Assessment Committee (TRAC) will hold a July 9-11, 2019 science assessment meeting at the St. Andrews Biological Station in St. Andrews, New Brunswick.

The TRAC was established in 1998 to peer review assessments of transboundary fishery resources in the Georges Bank area in order to ensure that management efforts of both Canada and the U.S, pursued either independently or cooperatively, are founded on a common understanding of fishery resource status.

At the 2019 meeting, the TRAC will consider:

  • Assessments for Eastern Georges Bank haddock and Georges Bank yellowtail flounder;
  • An update for allocation shares; and
  • An update of biological and fishery indicators for Atlantic cod, along with a report on the investigation of alternative methodologies of providing catch advice for Atlantic cod.

Results of the 2019 TRAC assessment meeting will be reported to management agencies in both countries.
